Who this policy covers
FoneSetu is a mobile shop management app for retailers and wholesalers. This policy covers information processed by the FoneSetu app and the public FoneSetu website. A shop owner is responsible for entering information about their customers, suppliers and staff only when they are allowed to do so.
Information the app handles
- Account information: mobile number, one-time verification codes, account name and shop/company details such as shop name, address and business settings.
- Shop records: product and stock details, IMEI or serial numbers, purchase and sale records, invoice information, payment entries, customer and supplier details, Khata balances, instalment schedules, and remarks entered by the shop.
- Team information: staff name, mobile number, role and access settings when a shop owner adds team members.
- Camera scans: the camera is used to read product barcodes or IMEI numbers for stock lookup and entry.
- Device settings: if enabled, the app can use the Android device’s biometric or local quick-PIN unlock feature. Biometric verification is handled by Android on the device; FoneSetu does not receive a fingerprint or face scan.
How information is used
We use this information to verify accounts, show shop records to authorized users, support billing and inventory workflows, maintain customer and supplier ledgers, calculate instalment schedules, and provide customer support. Shop records are associated with the shop account that created them.
Verification messages and WhatsApp
When you request an SMS verification code, the app’s server sends the mobile number and generated code to APITxT so it can deliver the message. The code is stored as a verification challenge and expires after a short period.
If you choose to share a statement, reminder or support message through WhatsApp, the app or website opens WhatsApp with the relevant recipient and message draft. You choose whether to send it. WhatsApp’s own privacy terms apply once you use that service.
Where information is stored and who can access it
Shop account and business records are stored by the FoneSetu service on its hosting and database infrastructure. The shop owner and authorized team members can access records according to their app permissions. Service providers may process limited information when needed to host the service or deliver verification messages.
Payments
FoneSetu records shop transactions and payment details entered by the shop. The app does not ask for your bank password, card PIN or UPI PIN to record these entries.
Retention and requests
Shop records are kept to provide the service and maintain the shop’s account history. To ask a question, correct account information, or request account/data deletion, contact FoneSetu support. We may ask you to verify that you own or administer the shop account before acting on a request.
Your choices
- You can deny camera access and enter an IMEI manually where that option is available.
- You can choose whether to share a message through WhatsApp after its draft opens.
- You can enable or disable local biometric or quick-PIN unlock in the app’s security settings.
- Shop owners can manage staff access and should remove access when a team member no longer needs it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The current version and effective date will be posted on this page.
